Small, properly constituted, and ready to grow.
Born from a simple, urgent observation in Musima Village: children eager to learn, with nothing to learn with.
A community initiative that grew up.
TNYMEF was founded on 10 April 2024 in Musima Village, Jinja City.
Many children were eager to learn, but their families could not afford school fees, uniforms or books, and food was often short. The aftermath of COVID-19 had stripped families of their income and children were dropping out.
What began as a small community initiative is now a registered Community Based Organisation supporting 50 children with mentorship, nutrition, health care and basic needs, while we raise funds to begin paying school fees. In 2026 we reached 1,000 students in five schools across two districts.
We are still small. But we are properly constituted, transparent, and committed to growing, so that every child in our community and Uganda at large has the chance to dream.

Transformative education for every young mind.
To be a leading catalyst for transformative education and holistic child development across Uganda, empowering disadvantaged young minds to reach their full potential and become positive changemakers in their communities.
Close the gap. Keep them whole.
To bridge the educational gap for disadvantaged young minds in Uganda by providing access to quality education, mentorship, and support while addressing the health, nutrition, and protection needs that prevent children from unlocking their full potential, breaking the cycle of poverty, and becoming future leaders.
Five promises.
Child-centred
We put the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every child first.
Transparent
We are open about our work, our finances and our decisions.
Community-rooted
We are led by the community we serve, and shaped by its needs.
Sustainable
We build for the long term, so our impact outlives us.
Empowering
We give children, families and communities the tools and opportunities to build better futures.
How we got here.

Jinja City Community Based Services Department, Reg. No. JC/841/CBO/2026.

Meals, referrals, home visits and sessions are recorded in six registers, so we can report with confidence.
Friends who walk with us.
We are proud to be a member of the Blue Community, a global network for the human right to water and sanitation, and to count Angel Heart and Soul Foundation as our first grant funder.
In May 2026 their Founder, Mr. William Lawson, and his team invited our Executive Director, Mr. Matege Yusuf, together with two of our beneficiaries, to join their entourage on a charity visit in Luwero.
